I’m visiting the MaMA (Marché des musiques actuelles) in Paris until Saturday. I am not here as an artist, but as a member of the foundation board of Fondation SUISA who is, along with Swiss Music Export, helping to promote Swiss music here. As an observer, I saw the Swiss showcases (and also went to see the Dutch afterwards – having dual nationality has its consequences). I went on to the Trianon to hear professionals discuss the future of audiovisual streaming of concerts. And later on, more concerts are coming up. Earlier, one of the rappers addressed the audience: Ça va Paris?
It’s thrilling to be able to hear what is coming up. I have always loved it. And working with students, it’s what I do. Seeing different things makes me happy in general. Seeing that my sons love Coldplay, Prince, and well, ACDC most of all right now – is just the way it is. And it’s fine with me. In fact it’s perfect. And I
still turn to Miles, Shorter, Giuffre, Jeanne Lee, Ravel, Bach, Monteverdi, Prabha Atre, Jarrett, Rashid Khan and all the others I turn to whenever I need it.
Oui, ça va très bien! It’s always good to be here.
