They had great songs, those singers, yesterday, at the beautiful club at Jazzcampus Basel. Songs that stayed with me when I walked out into the night around midnight, after having listened to two great exams. Yes, exams again. But the concerts sure did not feel like exams, but like… well, concerts. And when it is like this – what a privilege to be part of the exam committee!
Both Andrea Nydegger and Karin Ospelt sang mainly their own compositions, and then some! Both had great bands, and did not sound like anyone else.
What a joy also to be on the committee with their teacher, great singer Lisette Spinnler, who did her final exam with me as her teacher back in 2002.
To hear and see results at the end of a student’s journey is one of the great privileges of working in music education.
